Growing the fish value chain from innovation to market

Growing population pressure in southern and eastern Mediterranean countries, the need to rationalise exploitation of fish resources and competition by non-Mediterranean products that are competitive in terms of price but not always in terms of quality are just some of the dynamics that continue to change the market scenario in modern Mediterranean fish farming.
95% of total fish farming produce today comes from six countries, in order: Egypt, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Spain and France.

    * What is Mediterranean fish farming and where is it going?
    * Does it truly boast a specific identity and shared problems that make it different to fish farming in Nordic countries?
    * Is it possible to combine production trends expected to achieve significant increases over the next few years with environmental awareness?
    * Is sustainable Mediterranean fish farming possible?

Effective answers to market questions and help to improve production efficiency with a focus on the sustainable environment will be provided by Acquacoltura Med, the expo-conference whose steering committee comprises sector operators representing the main producer countries.
An event responding to the needs of the market that focuses on the market as such to ensure opportunities for meetings between supply and demand as well as information, awareness, professional updates and networking.
